This past Sunday afternoon through Tuesday evening, some members of the Tower Ladder 57 Truck Committee traveled to the Seagrave factory in Clintonville, WI for the final inspection of our new Tower Ladder. Annually, the Bedford Hills Fire Department carries on the important tradition of replacing all of the worn American Flags and markers on the graves of our fallen members. This year would be no different as our members and families walked Oakwood and Saint Francis Cemeteries in Mount Kisco, paying respect and never forgetting the dedicated members who gave so much to community and country.
Shortly after 21:00 on 5/11/2021, Bedford Hills FAS was dispatched dual response to the Yorktown Heights Fire District for a reported structure fire. While enroute, responding units were updated by Yorktown Police confirming the working structure fire - Car 2531 transmitted the 10-75. Upon arrival, first due companies were met with heavy fire on a 2 1/2 story 40 x 30 private dwelling.
Around 9:00am the Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a residential alarm at 51 Lyon Ridge Road. While enroute 60 Control advised of smoke in the residence and shortly after the 10-75 was transmitted by Car 2211 for the confirmed the attic fire, bringing Mutual Aid Companies to the scene including Engine 198, Tanker 5 and Rescue 10 from "the Hills".
Shortly before 14:00, BHFD FAS Team was alerted to the scene of a working structure fire in the Croton Falls Fire District. First arriving companies encountered a heavy smoke condition throughout a 1 1/2 story wood frame with no visible fire from the exterior. Mounting a aggressive interior attack the crew of Engine 149 located active fire in the basement utility room.
