BHFD Responds to Bomb Scare at Local Shoe Store
By 1st Assistant Chief Dominick Bueti
June 6, 2010
On June 6th at approximately 1600 hours BHFD was dispatched to a report of a bomb threat in the Marshalls Shoe Store. Car 2033 (Liburdi) arrived on scene first and assumed Command until Car 2032 (Bueti) arrived. Upon Car 2032's arrival a Command Post was established along with Bedford Police Officers Roman and Egelsen, at the entrance to the plaza. Cars 2033 (Liburdi) and 2034 (Lombardo) assumed the roles of Operations Chiefs and directed the incoming units to block roadways and evacuate the plaza. Westchester County Bomb Squad personnel arrived and swept the store with K-9 officers with negative results. KBHVAC personnel were dispatched to stand-by on scene. BHFD personnel did a great job in securing the area and making a tense situation run smoothly.
