| On Friday April 19 Bedford Hills Fire Department was dispatched automatic aid along with the Yorktown Heights Fire Department to a reported structure fire. The first Yorktown Chief on location transmitted the 10-75 for a working fire in a single story (with basement) private dwelling with heavy fire showing from the rear of the building. Multiple hand lines were stretched from both Yorktown's Ladder and Engine by members and advanced into the building making an aggressive interior attack. While responding Tower Ladder 57 was notified by Chief Lombardo that the ladder crew was going to work when the arrived. With conditions deteriorating and all occupants out of the structure Yorktown command pulled all firefighters from the building and went into a defensive attack. Tower Ladder 57 set up and operated alongside Ladder 51 as the fire darkened down. When the fire conditions improved command allowed members to enter the structure to extinguish any remaining hot spots and to preform extensive overhaul. After the fire was declared under control by Yorktown All Bedford Hills FD units returned in service to the district. |
