The members of the Bedford Hills Fire Department answered 48 alarms in the month of February, making it not only the coldest month on record, but also the busiest month in recent memory. Besides answering numerous calls, members also took advantage of many training opportunities to prepare for the next emergency. Taking advantage of the cold weather members were able to train for two weeks with the Yorktown Water Rescue Team on ice rescue techniques.

Firefighters responded first due to three 10-75 or greater alarms, two of which were within 18 hours of each other. Members also were first due on a rollover with entrapment where one occupant was extricated and a large scale Haz-Mat incident involving a fuel truck rolled over and leaking. Mutual aid was rendered 8 times, notably to a 10-75 in Yorktown where Tower Ladder 57 with the FASTeam and an Engine operated, a 10-75 in Somers where Tanker 5 operated, and a 3rd alarm in Golden's Bridge where Tower Ladder 57 with the FASTeam, the Tanker, and Utility assisted.

The Bedford Hills Fire Department would like to note the commitment of our membership as well, on average 21 firefighters responded to each incident, taking the time out of their busy lives to provide the highest level of service to the residents of the Bedford Hills Fire District and our mutual aid districts. The Department would also like to thank our mutual aid departments who helped us this month during incidents and training exercises.
