At 17:16 hours on Monday March 6, BHFD was dispatched to a residence on Payne Ave for a possibly extinguished kitchen fire. On the assignment were Car 2031 (Command), 2032 (Operations), with Engines 199, 198, Tower Ladder 57, Rescue 10, Tanker 5 and Utility 6.

The residents left the house in the early afternoon, and when they returned, they immediately noticed that there had been a fire in the kitchen and secured the door. The fire on the started on the stove top and the kitchen fire flashed, however the fire displaced all of the oxygen in the house and snuffed itself out, prior to the resident returning home.

First Due Companies stretched a dry line as a precaution while the Truck Company checked for extension and preformed ventilation while the Second Due secured a water source. With the fire out command held the Engine 199 and the Tower Ladder and all other units were available from the scene.

The Westchester County DES - Cause and Origin Team was requested and responded, the fire was deemed to be accidental in nature, unfortunately, the residents family dog perished in the fire.
