SOMERS - A three-alarm blaze razed a Somers home on Friday night, with firefighters from nearly a dozen local departments battling both flames and frigid temperatures. The fire at 220 Mahopac Ave., near the border with Mahopac, was first reported shortly before 5:30 p.m., and continued to burn through the home for nearly two hours. By 6:15 p.m., Somers firefighters were reporting that the home was "fully involved," and that the rear of the house had collapsed. Flames also spread to an adjacent structure. New York State Police said the occupants of the home were able to flee to safety before the fire raged out of control. No serious injuries were reported.
