F.A.S. Team response to Yorktown Heights

On Tuesday December 18th at 06:37Hrs, the Bedford Hills F.AS.Team was dispatched automatic aid in the Yorktown Heights Fire District for a reported Structure Fire. While enroute, Yorktown units received an update from Yorktown Police that there was an active fire. Car 2532 requested the 10-75 working structure fire assignment while units were still responding. Car 2533 arrived on scene with a fire in the front yard. Yorktown Police and residents then reported an active fire in the second floor. Yorktown Engine 271 arrived and quickly stretched a handline, mounting an aggressive interior attack. Yorktown Engine 272 arrived on scene, secured a positive water source and stretched a back up line to the front door while Ladder 51 arrived and set up for horizontal ventilation and roof operations. The attack team quickly knocked the fire down and began hydraulic ventilation. With the main body knocked down additional members overhauled the fire area and began salvage work to protect contents. Bedford Hills Units cleared the scene at 07:16 hours.
