Friday December 20th proved to be a busy one for the 100% volunteer Bedford Hills Fire Department, who answered 4 calls for service.

Just after 07:30 hours, members were alerted to the Saw Mill River Parkway southbound for a motor vehicle rollover with injuries. Crews arrived on scene shortly after dispatch, mitigating a fluid spill and assisting with traffic control while EMS provided patient care. Three patients were transported to area hospitals by Katonah-Bedford Hills EMS, all fire department personnel cleared the scene around 09:00 hours.

Then at 11:00 hours, Tanker 5 was requested on a cover assignment for the Armonk Fire District while their Tanker assisted the Greenwich CT Fire Department battle a private dwelling fire on Whitney Drive. At 11:55 hours, Tanker 5 was ultimately dispatched to the scene in Greenwich and participated in the rural water shuttle. Tanker 5 along with Car 2 and 3 returned to company district around 12:45 hours.

Finally at 13:25 hours, a rescue assignment was dispatched to Interstate 684 northbound, in the area of exit 4, for a tractor trailer vs school bus. Dispatch (60 Control) advised Car 2 there were no reports of children on the bus. Units arrived on scene and took a blocking position in the right lane to protect EMS who was providing patient care. Two patients were transported to an area hospital by Katonah-Bedford Hill Ambulance. Fire Department cleared the Interstate at 14:00 hours.
