Just hours before ringing in the New Year, the Bedford Hills Fire Department was dispatched to Bedford Road near the district line, for a reported tractor trailer fire adjacent to a commercial occupancy. Within minutes, Cars 2031, 2032, 2033 and Engine 198 were on the road responding. While enroute, units were notified by 60 Control that they had received additional calls for a fire at Mavis Tire in the Village of Mount Kisco, which was just under a mile away from the original location. Car 2032 arrived on scene, confirmed the trailer fire next to the building, prompting the 10-75 assignment be dispatched. Engine 198 was the first Engine on location, stretching the initial hand line and deploying foam to begin extinguishment. Mount Kisco Engine 104 arrived on scene, secured a positive water source and supplied Engine 198, while a third line was deployed to protect the exposures. Due to the trailers large fire load of used tires, Mount Kisco Tower Ladder 14 placed two master streams into operation, extinguishing the deep seated fire. Crews checked the roof of the building finding few spot fires and slight extension into the fascia. Command placed the incident under control around 22:00. All Bedford Hills units were released from the scene just after 23:00 hours.
