By Deputy Chief Jason Nickson
January 3, 2022

At 11:00am on January 3rd, Bedford Hills volunteers were dispatched to 7 Dickson Lane for a reported structure fire with reports of an occupant possibly trapped in the residence. Due to 60 Control receiving multiple reports of the working fire, Car 2032 (Chief Patierno) transmitted the 10-75.

Upon arrival, Car 2031 (Chief Dennett) reported heavy smoke showing from a 75 x 50 - 2.5 story wood frame structure and established Dickson Lane Command. The crew of Engine 198 placed a 1 3/4" line in service and started a primary search of the residence. Upon the arrival of Tower Ladder 57 their crew was tasked with the role of search & ventilation. Thankfully primary and secondary searches proved negative.

Engine 104 (MKFD) arrived as the 2nd Due Engine and laid a supply line to the scene from Knowlton Ave (In the Mount Kisco Fire District) to Engine 198. Since the residence falls in the non-hydrant area of the Bedford Hills Fire District, the Water Supply matrix was apart of the 10-75 bring in 4 additional tankers and a water supply pumper. Due to the quick knock down of the main body of fire, the water supply companies were able to stage at the end of the roadway.
The Westchester County C&O Team to the scene was requested to assist in determining the cause of the fire.
