National Police Week (May 15-21,2022) offers honor, remembrance, and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The Officers and Members of the Bedford Hills Fire Department would like to wish all the Police and Law Enforcement Officers a Happy National Police Week. We especially would like to thank the Town of Bedford Police, Westchester County Police, New York State Police, NYC DEP Police and the MTA Police who we work with on a constant basis and keep the residents of the Bedford Hills Fire District safe.

Stay Safe and Thank You For Your Service!

HISTORY

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

As of this post, 105 officers were killed in the line of duty in 2022.
