At 12:55 am on Thursday, October 27th, the all volunteer Bedford Hills Fire Department was dispatched for a reported fire on the railway, 1/2 mile north of the Bedford Hills Train Station. While responding, 60 Control updated the location to Railroad Avenue for an unknown type fire.

Car 2032 (Patierno) arrived on scene and confirmed the large refuse fire approximately 15' from the structure and requested 60 Control redispatch for a structural assignment. Engine 198 arrived on scene moments later, the chauffeur securing a positive water source while the crew stretched a 3" supply line with gated wye and deployed 2 attack lines. Tower Ladder 57 arrived on scene and positioned for an aerial master stream, while Engine 198 Chauffeur set up water supply to feed Tower Ladder 57.

A machine operator opened the refuse pile, allowing the water to penetrate the deep seated pockets of fire and fully extinguish the fire. The incident was brought under control within 20 minutes of initial dispatch, however crews remained on scene to overhaul until just before 3AM.
