A pair of fires started off the month of March for Bedford Hills Volunteers.
On Friday March 1st at 18:00 - BHFD was dispatched to Glen Arbor Golf Club for a commercial fire alarm. Upon the arrival of Car 2032 (Patierno) and Engine 198 - a small fire was located in the parlor room of the clubhouse. Discarded oily rags from staining spontaneously combusted inside of a trash can. The smoldering fire was quickly knocked and contained to the area of origin. Companies remained on scene for ventilation of the structure due to the moderate smoke condition throughout.
Then on Saturday March 2nd at 15:17 - a full assignment was dispatched for a smoking electrical box at a residence on Robinson Avenue. Upon the arrival of Car 2034 (Nickson) heavy smoke and active fire were found in the electrical components in the basement of a mulit-family dwelling. Car 2031 (Dennett) arrived on scene, established command and transmitted the 10-75 (Working Fire Assignment).
The main body of fire was contained to the utility room, with a heavy smoke condition throughout the basement. Engine 198 secured its own water source and a precautionary line was charged at the front door. Tower Ladder 57's crew secured utilities and preformed ventilation.
BHFD remained on scene assisting the homeowner and Cause and Origin Team. Chief Dennett terminated command at 17:01.
