BEDFORD HILLS, NY – October 12, 2024
Earlier today, Bedford Hills Fire District - Commissioners Dominick Bueti and Joseph Lombardo traveled to Oriskany Falls, NY to deliver the former Car 2033 - 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe to the Oriskany Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. (“OFFD”). Car 2033 was recently taken out of service as it is being replaced by a new 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe that is slated to go into service within the next few weeks. The Bedford Hills Fire District – Board of Fire Commissioners (“Fire District”) recently declared this vehicle surplus under NYS General Municipal Law and donated it to OFFD for $1.00. This vehicle will be the first department-owned Command Vehicle for OFFD. The Chief and Assistant Chief currently respond to emergencies in their personally owned vehicles. The Fire District is extremely pleased that the former Car 2033 will continue service with this deserving fire department and ultimately enhance OFFD’s response capabilities for the residents of Oriskany Falls and the surrounding communities.
OFFD Treasurer Jamie Wester said: “With the OFFD acquiring this vehicle from the Bedford Hills Fire District, our response area and all surrounding communities benefit greatly. Many know OFFD Fire Chief Russ Petrie is an integral part of Fire/EMS services locally. His commitment to helping his community when he is able is unprecedented. From the beginning, the goal was to help Russ, be able to do what Russ does, and aid him in helping others more efficiently. This helps, and nobody is more deserving. OFFD is dedicating this vehicle in memory of past member Roger Krol.”
The Fire District extends our sincere appreciation to AAA Emergency Supply, Deiana's Custom Collision, Hudson Valley Fire Equipment, RFC Emergency Lighting, and Sammy & Sons’ Hand Car Wash for donating services and/or equipment to prepare this vehicle for service with OFFD. |
