By BHFD STAFF
February 3, 2007
On Saturday February 3 at approximately 10:35 am Bedford Hills Volunteers were dispatched to a reported fire on the exterior of a residence on Robinhood rd. Car 2031 (Graniero), Car 2032 (McGill) and Car 2033 (Bueti) were responding to the call within minutes. Car 2031 was on scene first and made a request through 60 Control for NYSEG to the scene as well as TL-14 MKFD to the scene. Apparently a cable contractor was installing new cable lines on the exterior of the residence and had drilled through the main power line coming into the house from the road. Once the power line had been compromised it had sparked a fire on the side of the house burning the siding and the insulation. Bedford Police knocked down the main body of fire with a dry chemical fire extinguisher. The crew from Eng-199 assessed the damage outside to make sure the fire was extinguished, as well as inside the residence for any extension with help from the crew from R-10. Crews from T-5 and Tl-14 stood by incase their assistance was needed by command. With negative extension and the scene turned over to NYSEG all units were cleared by Bedford Hills command at 11:50.
