WORKING CAR FIRE
By BHFD STAFF
April 14, 2008
On Monday April 14 @ 18:40 hours members were in the process of washing hose that was used during the live burn training a week before when their pagers activated. It was for a reported car fire with a possible victim trapped inside the car, on Haines Road in the vicinity of Croton Lake Road. Cars 2031, 2032 and 2033 were all responding within seconds of dispatch with Engine 198 and Tanker 5 only minutes behind. All three Chiefs were on scene quick and confirmed the working fire. Discharging their extinguishers into the passenger compartment they were able to determine that there was nobody inside the car. When Engine 198 and tanker 5 arrived they stretched two 1" 3/4 hand lines, one for the car fire and one for the brush fire started due to the heat from the car fire. Once all fire was extinguished Westchester County Zone 5 Cause and Origin Team was dispatched to investigate the scene. All Bedford Hills Units were returned to service @ 21:30 hours.
The fire is still under investigation by Westchester County Cause and Origin Team
