BEDFORD - A fire ripped through the upper level of a barn in Bedford on Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported shortly after 8:30 a.m. at 324 Jay St., better known as Route 22. Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from a barn behind a home on the property.
The barn was used for storage, and no animals were in it, Katonah Fire Chief Paul Bauer said.
No one was injured. Route 22 was closed for more than two hours as firefighters knocked out the blaze and extinguished hot spots. Volunteer firefighters from Goldens Bridge, South Salem and Bedford Hills assisted the Katonah Fire Department.
The cause remained under investigation, but there were no immediate signs the fire was suspicious
