"Fill the Boot Fundraiser For Our Firefighter"
On March 6th, 2010, a volunteer firefighter with Somers lost his house in a devastating fire. Firefighter Mike Walsh along with his wife, four children, sister-in-law, and niece lost everything in this tragic incident.
The fire service and the community at large have shown the true meaning and spirit of American society and rallied behind this family in their time of need.
This Saturday March 13th, 2010 the Somers Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with Town of Somers Highway Department and other community organization will have a "Fill the Boot Fundraiser For Our Firefighter" in front of the Elephant Hotel, #335 Route 202 Somers NY.
Our firefighters along with others from our neighboring fire departments, the town highway department, Somers Police Department, and other community organizations will be on the street with empty firefighting boots taking donations and filling them up to assist our brother firefighter and member of the community and his family recover from this devastating incident.
