By Chief of Department Brian McGill
January 8, 2011
On January 8, 2011 Bedford Hills Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Bedford Center Road and Broad Brook Road for a reported motor vehicle accident. Once responding Cars 2031 (McGill), 2032 (Bueti) and 2033 (Liburdi) were notified by dispatchers that the car was reported to be on its roof and the occupants were possibly trapped. As the chiefs arrived on scene Rescue 10, Mini Attack 9 and Engine 198 were responding. Operations Chiefs Bueti and Liburdi notified command that all occupants were conscious and out of the vehicle. Command Chief McGill made a radio transmission to 60 Control advising them that the accident was actually in Bedford Village Fire District and asked them to contact a BVFD fire Chief. Crews from Rescue 10 and MA-9 secured the car and applied oil absorbent to spilled fluids, while the crew from Engine 198 stood fast in case a hose line was needed. KBHVAC with Westchester EMS tended to minor injuries on scene, as the car was rolled back over onto its wheels by a local tow company. After the car was removed and KBHVAC left the scene all Bedford Hills units were placed back into service by command.
