By Deputy Chief Joseph Lombardo
September 4, 2011
On Saturday, September 3 at 14:54 hours, BHFD was dispatched to 126 Babbitt Road for a reported structure fire. Within two minutes of dispatch, Car 2034 (Deputy Chief Lombardo) was on scene reporting smoke showing from the eaves. Car 2032 (Assistant Chief Bueti) and Car 2033 (Assistant Chief Liburdi) arrived shortly thereafter. Car 2032 signaled a 10-75 with a request for TL-14 from Mt. Kisco Fire Department (TL-57 is out of service) in addition to their FAST Team. Units on scene conducted primary and secondary searches, while two lines were being stretched to the second and third floors. The fire was contained to the second floor kitchen and was determined to be electrical in nature and related to Hurricane Irene. Katonah Fire Department supplied one engine with manpower and Mt. Kisco Fire Department relocated one engine to BHFD HQ, as E-199 was out of service for maintenance. KBHVAC provided rehab and was assisted by WEMS. One firefighter was transported to NWHC for evaluation. The American Red Cross responded to assist with the displaced occupants of the residence. Westchester County Cause and Origin Team conducted the fire investigation. All units cleared at 17:30 hours.
