By BHFD Staff
November 24, 2013
On Sunday afternoon while much of the area was under a red flag warning, for an increased brush fire risk, Tanker 5 was requested to respond to Somers to assist with a large mulch pile fire. Tanker 5, Car 2031, and Car 2033 made the response with 9 members and was advised by command that they had one pile of mulch approximately one acre burning and two other piles smoldering. Upon his arrival Car 2031 assumed the Division A command and Car 2033 assumed the Water Supply command. Tanker 5 began supplying water to the scene as the crew reported to Division A to begin suppression efforts. After operating for approximately two hours Bedford Hills units were placed in service by command.
