News Story and Photos - credit Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD:

At 15:59hrs on February 10th, Yorktown Heights Fire along with an Engine from the Mt.Kisco FD and the Bedford Hills Fire Department F.A.S.Team were dispatched to a residence on Spring Meadow Pond for the reported chimney fire.
Car 2284 and Car 2282 from the Mt. Kisco FD were the first to arrive due to the proximity of this portion of our fire district to the MKFD district line and advised incoming YHFD units of an active chimney fire with extension to the structure and attic. With that information, Car 2531 transmitted the 10-75 (working fire) which brought in additional Tankers from Millwood Fire, Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department(Putnam County), Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, and the Somers Volunteer Fire Department to the scene as this portion of our fire district lacks municipal water mains.

First arriving YHFD Engine 272 stretched the 2” “Yorktown Bundle” to the attic area to stop the advancing fire spread and worked in conjunction with 2nd due Engine 104 from the MKFD whom set up a nursing operation to feed E-272 and pulled a second attack line. 3rd arriving YHFD Engine 274 provided an additional water supply while its crew performed ventilation and searches. YHFD Car 2531 had command, 2533 was assigned interior operations. Millwood T-15 provided additional water for overhaul via the established nursing operation. All additional Tankers staged before being released.

Due to a coordinated offense attack between YHFD and MKFD Volunteers, the main body of fire was quickly knocked down.
YHFD, MKFD and BHFD members conducted extensive overhaul to ensure no further fire extension to the home and the scene was later turned over to the homeowner at approximately 18:30hrs.
