January 27, 2026
On Monday January 26th, at 18:06 hrs Westchester County 60 Control began to receive calls of a plow truck on fire at the Exxon Gas Station on Bedford Road in the Bedford Hills Fire District. Katonah Car 2212 who was in the area notified 60 Control, that there was an active plow truck on fire at the Gas Pumps at the Gas Station and the Stations Ansul System had activated.
Car 2033 was first to arrive and later requested Tanker 5 to respond due to the Snow covered hydrants in the area from the recent Snow Storm. Car 2031 and Car 2032 arrived shortly after 2033 and Car 2031 established Bedford Road Command. E-199 arrived 1st Due and crews stretched the front bumper pre-connect to begin fire suppression efforts. Tanker 5 arrived second due and provided E-199 with a positive water supply. Crews from E-199, Tanker 5 and Rescue 10 provided Fire Suppression efforts and checked for any extension into the Gas Station Canopy area. No extension was found and the fire was contained to the area of origin on the plow truck.
BHFD units operated on scene till 18:47 and the scene was turned over to the Business owner and Town of Bedford Building Department.
As a reminder, please remember to shovel out around your Fire Hydrant after a Snow Storm, a clean unobstructed Fire Hydrant saves Firefighters precious time when seconds matter in an emergency.
