McLain Street MVA
By Lieutenant Kyle A. Brown
October 13, 2026
On Monday, October 12th, around 5:30 PM, Bedford Hills Firefighters, along with Katonah-Bedford Hills EMS and WEMS 45M1, were dispatched to McLain Street near #60 for a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the 45M1 unit reported a head-on collision involving two vehicles, with one patient requiring extrication.
When Engine 199 arrived on the scene, the crew assessed the situation to develop a plan for safely removing the patient. Access was limited due to both vehicles being positioned closely together, with a rock wall on one side. Crews from Engine 199 and Rescue 10 utilized the winch from Engine 199 and a snatch block to slide one vehicle away from the other, allowing for better patient access.
The teams assisted EMS personnel in extracting the patient, who sustained minor injuries and was subsequently transported to the hospital for evaluation. Firefighters also managed fluid spills and supported the tow truck during the cleanup efforts.
